What kind of shape do I need to be in?
SUPing is whatever you want it to be. To me wondering about what kind of shape you need to be in is like asking what kind of shape you need to be in to go for a walk. Really, I say that with all seriousness. We accommodate and welcome all ages and all levels of fitness. You don’t even have to know how to swim. You do need to be able to kneel, stand and paddle. There is no pressure to do anything you are not comfortable with.
If you are worried about being able to balance, don’t be you will learn!
Dress like you were going for a hike or walk on the beach. People ask me all the time if they should wear a wet suit and the answer is always NO, unless you are going in the ocean. When you flat water sup you are on top of the water and wet suits are made for being in the water. If you winter or sup in the non-summer conditions then you might like wetsuit booties to keep your feet warm and I like gloves so my fingers don’t get cold. Bike gloves work well too.
For summer days bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Dress comfortable and wear things you don’t mind getting wet or a bit dirty.
What should I bring with me?
Bring a change of clothes and a towel. Yes you might fall in! Other than that some water and a snack if you like and a sense of adventure!
What type of payment do you take?
We take them all! We will ask for a credit card to ensure your reservation and accommodate our cancellation policy.
What is the cancellation policy?
We need 24 hour notice or send someone in your place.
How do I sign up?
Where do we go for lessons?
Lessons will be arranged according to tide and wind conditions. All lessons are within a 5 to 20min drive from Manzanita. We will call you day before the lesson to give you location.
Near-by Launch Sites:
1. Downtown Nehalem Little Public Boat Ramp:
Two miles south of Manzanita. At the bottom of the hill where 101 goes right you go directly across into the parking area between two buildings. Nearest bathroom ¼ mile south of 101 at public bathroom.

2. Nehalem Bay State Park Boat Ramp:
1 mile south of down town Manzanita. Nice bathroom at parking area. If we go here you will need to buy a one day park permit that are for sale just as you turn towards the boat ramp off main park road. The fee is $5 and goes to a good cause. If you plan on parking your car in the park more then 5 times a year I recommend a one year park pass that is good for hundreds of day-use parks in the Oregon park system.
